Beef Stew Instructions

🔥 Browning the Beef:

  1. Pat beef dry and season with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large pot, heat 2 tbsp oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear beef in batches until browned on all sides (about 5–6 min). Remove and set aside.

🍅 Building Flavor:

  1. Stir in 2 tbsp tomato paste, 2 tsp paprika, and 1 tsp thyme.
  2. Add the browned beef back into the pot.
  3. Crumble in the beef stock cube (if using) and pour in 1–2 cups water or beef broth.

🥕 Add Vegetables:

  1. Add potatoes, carrots, and any other veggies like green beans or peas.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
  3. Cover and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours until beef is tender.

🧂 Season and Thicken:

  1. Taste and adjust salt and pepper.
  2. To thicken: mix 1 tbsp cornflour with a bit of cold water, stir into the stew, and simmer for another 5 minutes until thickened.
